ABOUT
Lily Starbuck is a chef and writer living between New York and West Cork, Ireland. She loves building businesses, eating sandwiches, and swimming in the sea.
A Brooklyn native, she spent her formative years as a recipe tester and assistant to cookbook author and New York Times columnist, Melissa Clark. She went on to work across kitchens, farms, and culinary institutions on both sides of the Atlantic — The French Culinary Institute, Lucky Peach magazine, Gubbeen Farmhouse, Stissing House, Fishers Island Oyster Farm — before training at the Ballymaloe Cookery School and founding her own cafe on Fishers Island, NY.
She sold her cafe in the spring of 2025 and now consults on hospitality and food businesses — helping founders to create systems, stories, and spaces that endure. She is also developing a food show.
Lily has built a following around her newsletter, Out to Lunch, where she writes about food, romance, and navigating life between the USA and Ireland.
